Leo is one of the youngest breeding stallions that traces back
this closely to Leo and Poco Bueno. This
is foundation bloodlines at their very best.
Leo combines outstanding foundation bloodlines
with exceptional cow sense and athletic ability.
He is passing on his great mind and ability to
his foals. Leo will continue to campaign
this summer in the AQHA Versatile Ranch Horse
competitions.
Leo is ranch raised and was broke on the job,
riding for wages, and doing all the duties that
ranch horses do. Glen has done all the
training and riding on Leo. At 13 years of
age Leo was pulled out of the pasture after
breeding season and put back to work. He
had 5 rides prior to competing in the 2009 SRCHA
Futurity and Derby where he won 5 out of the 6
classes he entered in the novice horse division.
He was the SRCHA 2009 Novice Horse of the Year.
He had not been ridden for 6 years prior to this
show.
He then competed in his first AQHA Versatile
Ranch Horse competition where he was the Reserve
Champion. He tied for 1st but placed
second following the tie breaker rule. He
earned his first AQHA points in the VRH at this
show.
In November of 2009 he was a competitor in the
Canada's Greatest cow horse event where his stud
fee sold at the auction for $800.00
Leo is passing on his great mind, athletic
ability and trainability. His offspring
are proving their ability to excel. A 3
year old son of Leo was used in the PFRA pasture
for light duty prior to being sold to Bill Robb.
Bill then had a very successful winter roping on
this gelding in the Winter Roping Series in
Moose Jaw.
Leo will be campaigned in the AQHA VRH
competitions, seeking world show qualification.
